Modeling with ANSI/VITA 51.1
Relyence Reliability Prediction supports modeling with ANSI/VITA 51.1 modifications to MIL-HDBK-217 F Notice 2.
ANSI/VITA is a collaborative industry standard that provides modifications to the MIL-HDBK-217 F Notice 2 Reliability Prediction standard to reflect more updated and realistic failure rate assessments. The updates reflect changes in device technologies, improvements that have occurred over time since the MIL-HDBK-217 F Notice 2 standard was released, and updates reflective of more information based on testing and field tracked data. Relyence Reliability Prediction supports ANSI/VITA 51.1 - 2008 (R2013): Reliability Prediction MIL-HDBK-217 Subsidiary Specification.
To activate the ANSI/VITA standard, click the Properties icon from the Analysis Tree toolbar.
On the Analysis Tree Properties pane, select ANSI/VITA 51.1 from the Calculation Model dropdown list.
The ANSI/VITA 51.1 standard is built upon the MIL-HDBK-217 F Notice 2 standard, so all forms and data parameters will be the same as MIL-HDBK-217. There is a Parts Count version of ANSI/VITA 51.1 which is based on the MIL-HDBK-217 F Notice 2 Parts Count section. The ANSI/VITA 51.1 standard is not a revision of MIL-HDBK-217 but is an update to the inputs to the equation models for more consistent and realistic failure rate metrics.
Compliance with the ANSI/VITA 51.1 standard is defined using five key terms: Rule, Recommendation, Suggestion, Permission, and Observation. These are delineated in the standard. Relyence Reliability Prediction implements all the Rules and Recommendations. The Suggestions, Permissions, and Observations should be reviewed, and you can determine how to best apply these depending on your specific design and requirements.
All the capabilities of Relyence Reliability Prediction such as Parts Libraries, custom default values, Mission Profiles, What-If?, dashboards, etc., are all available for ANSI/VITA 51.1.
