Converting Conventional Fault Trees to SAE Fault Trees

Converting Conventional Fault Trees to SAE Fault Trees

If you have an Analysis where the Fault Tree Properties has the Perform SAE ARP4754A / ARP4761 option cleared as shown below, it will employ conventional methodology for fault tree analysis.

If you prefer to use SAE fault tree analysis, simply select this option and click Save to convert the Analysis to use SAE ARP4754A / ARP4761 methodology in Relyence Fault Tree.

Note that the Analysis must meet acceptable criteria in order to allow for the conversion from conventional fault tree analysis to SAE fault tree analysis. The acceptable criteria includes that the Analysis must meet following criteria:

  • none of the Gates or Events are linked to any Gate or Event in a Fault Tree Library or Event Library
  • none of the Events can have an Input Model that is not supported by Relyence SAE fault tree analysis
  • none of the Events are linked to a CCF Group
  • none of the Events are linked to a Disjoint Event Group

Also note that if the acceptable criteria are not met, the Perform SAE ARP4754A / ARP4761 FTA option will be disabled and a pop-up tooltip will explain why you cannot select or clear it.
