Overview of the Relyence Process FMEA Data Flow
Relyence FMEA aids in performing your PFMEAs by keeping information in sync for you through its unique always-in-sync feature. This ensures that your PFMEAs are efficient and complete and allows you to focus on your analysis activities rather than worrying about copying and pasting data and updating all your PFMEA elements when your team makes modifications. The following list describes the interaction of the data between three of the main elements in your PFMEA - the Process Flow Table (PFT)/Process Flow Diagram (PFD), the PFMEA Worksheet, and the Control Plan (CP):
Process Steps
- Appear on Process Flow Table/Process Flow Diagram, PFMEA Worksheet, and Control Plan for each PFMEA.
- Inserting a Process Step on the Process Flow Table/Process Flow Diagram, PFMEA Worksheet, or Control Plan inserts it into all elements.
- Deleting a Process Step from the Process Flow Table/Process Flow Diagram, PFMEA Worksheet, or Control Plan deletes from all elements.
- Editing the Step Number or Process Step on the Process Flow Table/Process Flow Diagram, PFMEA Worksheet, or Control Plan modifies it across all elements.
PFMEA Product Characteristics
- Appear in the Process Flow Table (PFT)/Process Flow Diagram (PFD) and the Control Plan (CP). Product Characteristic data can also be associated with any Cause on the PFMEA Worksheet.
- Inserting a new PFMEA Product Characteristic in the PFD/PFT: a new PFMEA Product Characteristic will be added in the CP. The reverse is true as well - by inserting a new PFMEA Product Characteristic in the CP, it will also be added to the PFD/PFT.
- Adding new Product Characteristic data to any failure cause in the PFMEA Worksheet adds a PFMEA Product Characteristic to the PFD/PFT and CP.
- Deleting a PFMEA Product Characteristic from the PFD/PFT also deletes it from the CP. And if that Product Characteristic was associated with any failure cause on the PFMEA Worksheet, that Product Characteristic will appear in red italicized font in the PFMEA Worksheet.
- Deleting a Product Characteristic from the PFMEA Worksheet only deletes the value from the Product Characteristic for the appropriate failure cause on the PFMEA Worksheet.
- Deleting a PFMEA Product Characteristic from the CP also deletes it from the PFD/PFT. And if that Product Characteristic was associated with any failure cause on the PFMEA Worksheet, that Product Characteristic will appear in red italicized font in the PFMEA Worksheet.
- Editing a PFMEA Product Characteristic in the Product Characteristic Table modifies it across all three of the main elements - PFD/PFT, PFMEA Worksheet, CP.
PFMEA Process Characteristics
- Appear in the Process Flow Table (PFT)/Process Flow Diagram (PFD) and the Control Plan (CP). PFMEA Process Characteristic data can also be associated with any failure cause.
- Inserting a new PFMEA Process Characteristic in the PFD/PFT: a new PFMEA Process Characteristic will be added in the CP. The reverse is true as well - by inserting a new PFMEA Process Characteristic in the CP, it will also be added to the PFD/PFT.
- Adding new PFMEA Process Characteristic data to any failure cause in the PFMEA Worksheet adds a PFMEA Process Characteristic to the PFD/PFT and CP.
- Deleting a PFMEA Process Characteristic from the PFD/PFT also deletes it from the CP. And if that PFMEA Process Characteristic was associated with any failure cause on the PFMEA Worksheet, that PFMEA Process Characteristic will be cleared out and appear blank in the PFMEA Worksheet.
- Deleting a PFMEA Process Characteristic from the PFMEA Worksheet only deletes the value from the PFMEA Process Characteristic for the appropriate failure cause on the PFMEA Worksheet.
- Deleting a PFMEA Process Characteristic from the CP also deletes it from the PFD/PFT. And if that PFMEA Process Characteristic was associated with any failure cause on the PFMEA Worksheet, that PFMEA Process Characteristic will be cleared out and appear blank in the PFMEA Worksheet.
Prevention and Detection Controls
- Appear in the PFMEA Worksheet and the CP.
- Adding a new control in the PFMEA Worksheet adds it to the CP.
- Deleting a control from the PFMEA Worksheet: The Control Method of the associated control in the CP is cleared and appears blank.
- Controls cannot be deleted from the CP.
- Moving a control in the PFMEA Worksheet to a different Process Step: The CP will be updated so the control appears with the appropriate characteristic. If the CP does not have the appropriate characteristic, it will be added.
